A new investigation at the Durupinar Formation, located near Mount Ararat, has revealed anomalies that may indicate something more than a simple rock formation. The site, which has long been associated with the possible final resting place of Noah’s Ark, is situated about 3 km from the Iranian border and approximately 1,980 meters above sea level.

Investigation of the Durupinar Formation

The latest research at the Durupinar Formation is being led by Dr. Khosrow Bakhtar and Andrew Jones, founder of Noah’s Ark Scans.

Using a specialized radar system previously employed by the U.S. Air Force, the team is seeking to map what lies beneath the surface.

According to Dr. Bakhtar, “My team and I are carefully evaluating the data collected, which is helping with the planning of the drilling pattern to be carried out at the site.”

A new radar survey detected significant underground anomalies and distinct layers within the formation, which measures 515 feet (approximately 157 meters) in length, challenging the idea that it is a single homogeneous block of rock.

Research Team and Technology Used

The research team includes specialists from various parts of the world and uses BakhtarRadar technology, which can distinguish between petrified wood and the surrounding natural mineral formation. Jones stated: “We believe the Durupinar Formation is the remains of Noah’s Ark, and that is exactly why we want to subject it to the most rigorous scientific testing possible.”

Preliminary Scan Results

Preliminary scan results indicate the presence of distinct layers within the formation, suggesting that it is not simply a solid mass of rock. The anomalies detected so far have generated excitement among researchers, who are considering the possibility that the formation could contain remnants of the biblical ark.

The radar detected “a series of right angles” at a depth of about 20 feet (6 meters), which researchers believe could correspond to the compartments where animals were kept aboard the ark.
